Space Oddity is probably the best known song from David Bowie’s 1969 album “David Bowie” and became so well known that the album was re released by as Space Oddity by CA in 1972. It is a hard song to describe and somewhat epitomises Bowies talent and musical repertoire as it sort of combines elements of traditional balladry, with Folk Music and a little bit of rock. Many have tried to analyse the deeper meaning of the song, relating it to Bowies drug usage around the time, however it was at the time most probably inspired by Stanley Kubricks 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
