“Mona Lisa” remains to this day one of the classics of easy listening and although many artists have covered it, none (in our opinion anyway) perform it better than Nat King Cole. The song was originally written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the motion picture Captain Carey, U.S.A. which was released by Paramount Pictures in Feb,1950 and the song went on to win won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for that year.
Nat King Cole’s version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1992.
The Colour video below is of a rather debonair looking Nat singing this classic song.
