Usually (well for the last few decades anyway) Eurovision songs are quickly (and many would say) best forgotten, however the Netherlands 2014 entry Calm After The Storm is actually not too bad. It fits nicely into the easy listening category, being a melodic country sort of song, and the official video is done in a nice noir art-house style too.
The Common Linnets are probably not destined to be a successful as some past entrants such as Abba or even Bucks Fizz, however this song is one which we will probably play regularly for the next few months, and will probably go down in the annals as one of the best songs not to win the competition – now if they had been a drag act…
