IMHO “I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry” and “He Stopped Loving Her Today” by Hank Williams and George Jones, respectively, are the greatest country songs of all time.
I WAS IN A SMALL TOWN ON OKINAWA WHEN I HEARD HANK DIED. YOU COULD HEAR KWA- LIGA PLAYING FROM ONE OF THE BEER HALLS. THE MEMORY HAS STAYED WITH ME ALL THESE YEARS. I STILL HAVE MY COLLECTION OF HANKS SONGS.

This is true country music…say what u want.
I was raised on this music and I will raise my kids on this music because this is REAL country music not Taylor Swift and i’m 15 years old and i’ve never really liked the new “country” i’ve always listened to Hank Sr. & Jr., Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and George Jones just to name a few
Now this is real country music. This is the kind of country music I grew up listening to. Hank Williams, Eddie Arnold, Lefty Frizell, Webb Pierce and Ray Price among others were and are the real country singers. I am almost 74 years old and the so called country singers today couldn’t carry their jock straps.
The crap called country music today is not country, it’S BAD rock and roll.

Hank Williams is a sometimes food. If I listened to it very often it would grate on me, but every once in a while the mood strikes and it’s just perfect.
