“I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” is taken from the Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell album from 1993. Like the earlier meat Loaf albums it was written and composed by Jim Steinman who is quite an accomplished singer in his own right. The songs lyrics particularly “I wont Do That” remain somewhat ambiguous in their meaning with various suggestions having been put forward. Our own thoughts are it was influenced by the 1992 Dracula Movie staring Gary Oldman where Dracula loved Elisabeta so much that he couldn’t bring himself to inflict his curse upon her no matter how much he loved her – I guess we are old romantics at heart
