Acker Bilk originally wrote this for his daughter Jenny naming it after her. It was latter named Stranger on the Shore when it was picked by the BBC for a TV drama entitled – you guessed it Stranger on the Shore. On May 26, 1962, it became the first British recording to reach number one on the U.S Billboard Hot 100. It is today one of the most recognised easy listening classic clarinet recitals.

I was amused to find that some saxophonists don’t know how to play the clarinet!

Wow! I think I will take out my old clainet and dust it off and see if I can get the same sounds as Acker Bilk?
