Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love Worldwide Smash Hit

London born Leona Lewis hit the big time after winning the third series of The X Factor in 2006, and although she enjoyed success with her show winning debut single “A Moment Like This”, it was the release of her second single Bleeding Love which got the World to sit up and take notice. It shot straight into the UK singles chart at Number one in 2007 becoming the biggest selling record of the year, and in 2008 even this achievement was overshadowed when it became the best-selling single Worldwide, reaching No 1 in 35 Different Countries.

Given the increasing diversity of music and the increasing number of competing media it is unlikely we will see the feat repeated again for a while and it had only ever occurred once before with Elton Johns “Candle In the Wind” a tribute to the late Princess Dianna in 1997.
